Morphogenetic Duck

After seeing an amazing article by +Booooooom.com about the work of +John Franzen's 'One Line One Breath' series, I was simply inspired! Therefore, I HAD to create my own illustration using a similar technique and a different subject matter :)

Here is the amazing article: http://www.booooooom.com/2013/08/15/morphogenetic-freehand-drawings-by-artist-john-franzen/

And a link to the truly talented artist John Franzen: http://www.johnfranzen.com/art/EACH_LINE_ONE_BREATH.html

Part complete duck drawing

Final illustration of duck using fine liner pen and a lot of patience! Inspired by Franzen though focusing more on a specific subject matter rather than complete abstract form.

Hope you like it :)

Charcoal Baboon

Here is a fairly quick charcoal drawing of a baboon! This image is taken from my own photograph which you can see below.

Just a quick sketch to get me back into using traditional methods- I realise I have been doing a lot of digital work and neglecting good old traditional materials!

Photograph of charcoal drawing before manipulation in Photoshop.

Black and white, brightness and contrast adjustment in Photoshop

Using the gradient tool, I gave the drawing a slight red tint for a more rustic effect.

I hope you like my traditional work! More of my other works can be found on the rest of this blog and also my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/CarlaTaylorIllustration

Thanks for taking the time to view my work!

'I'm a Little Doggy with a Pencil in my Mouth'

Completed my new logo design tonight for my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/CarlaTaylorIllustration

This cute little design is my attempt at bringing in some fun into how I work! After more than a month experimenting digitally it seems that's all I do! So, after a little bit of practice here is a BRAND NEW logo design for my own page :)

Quite proud to have this little fellow representing my work :)

Original rough sketch of logo design with proposed text layouts.

Process of outlining my drawing in Photoshop, making improvements as I go

Digitally coloured in partly in Photoshop

Final design in full colour! Love designing cute characters :)

Here are a couple of experiments I did with colour and contrast, playing around with different looks of the logo.
